Evanston launched C.A.R.E in 2024 with the goal of redesigning public safety and fostering a connected community. The Moran Center trained the team in trauma-informed care practices. The C.A.R.E team responds to low-risk service calls to limit the role of law enforcement in these cases. The program is completely independent of the Evanston Police Department but it has their full expressed support.
