Cook County Bars Detention of Children Under the Age of 13

Ordinance 18-4955 was passed on Wednesday September 12th by the Cook County Board. Commissioner Larry Suffredin introduced the Ordinance to end the practice of detaining children under the age of 13 in the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center and Cook County Jail. The Juvenile Justice Initiative distributed a letter from the Moran Center supporting the Ordinance to the Cook County Board urging passage.
