Charles Jefferson, Communications Manager

Charles Jefferson is the communications manager for the Moran Center. Prior to his role with the Moran Center,  Mr. Jefferson spent three years as the communications and marketing coordinator for Chicago Theological Seminary, a progressive graduate school of theology in Hyde Park.  Before his shift to the communications/PR side, Mr. Jefferson was a journalist. After receiving his bachelors in journalism from Columbia College Chicago, Mr. Jefferson worked as a web and segment producer for Chicago Tonight, the nightly news and public affairs show on WTTW-Channel 11. Mr. Jefferson also worked as a producer and photographer for Waskul Entertainment, a multimedia production company that produced live web segments for the NAB Show in Las Vegas and as an apprentice at WGN-TV, where he was an assistant web producer for the station.

His most rewarding job, however, was program manager for Columbia Links, a high-school journalism and news literacy program that was housed at Columbia College Chicago. There, Mr. Jefferson coordinated student interviews, orientations, co-planned class syllabi, ran all social media efforts, produced the student webcast and co-managed production of the annual magazine featuring student stories that was distributed to high-schools across the Chicago area. While he’s a Humboldt Park native, Mr. Jefferson has been in Evanston since 2007, having graduated from ETHS in 2010.  He went on to receive his journalism degree from Columbia College Chicago in 2014. Mr. Jefferson actively serves on the events committee for the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
